Blue eye have always been a desirable trait, but researchers at the University of Vermont have found that people with blue eyes have higher than average rates of alcohol use disorder.

Researchers believe that the gene that causes light eyes is correlated with genes that may cause a predisposition to alcohol use disorder. People of European descent with brown eyes were the least-likely group to suffer from AUD. People with green and grey eyes had a higher risk, with blue-eyes people most likely to suffer from AUD.

According to the study, the researchers tested their hyporthesis three times after noticing the correlation. The researchers will continue to work on studying the genetics surrounding alcoholism.
