Soon a myriad in the entertainment industry will gather for a special tribute to honor those who have accurately depicted alcohol, tobacco and drug use and addiction, as well as mental health issues in film, television, music and comic book entertainment. It’s time for the 16thannual PRISM Awards.

The Entertainment Industries Council, Inc., in collaboration with FX Network, News Corporation and others will present the 16th annual PRISM Awards Thursday, April 19, 6 to 9:30 p.m. PST from Beverly Hills, Calif.

Brian Dyak, president and CEO of the Entertainment Industries Council (EIC), Inc., says depicting truthful representations of those in the recovery and the nature of addiction only strengthens the community through creativity.

“The annual PRISM Awards are a cornerstone in EIC’s efforts to promote awareness of health and social issues, honoring individuals in the entertainment industry who utilize their creative brilliance to simultaneously entertain, engage and inform audiences,” Dyak tells “When you recognize that one accurate story can reach millions of people and empower them to take control of their health, PRISM strengthens the recovery community and supports their efforts to encourage positive decision making through the art of making a difference.”

The ceremony—which will also include a special tribute for PRISM returning veterans—will be crafted into the nationally-televised PRISM Awards Showcase to be aired by flagship partner FX and other networks.

Renew magazine will provide updates throughout the ceremony at, sponsored by the ONE80CENTER, as we will be on site in Beverly Hills. Look for a photo slideshow of guests and attendees at and more, as well as PRISM winner updates on our Facebook page, Renew Magazine.
