Born May 17, 1962, Craig Ferfuson, 50, is popularly known as the Scottish host of Emmy nominated "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." In the recovery community, however, we know him as a fellow alcoholic who has been staying sober one day at a time for nearly 20 years.

With a sobriety date of Feb. 18, 1992, Ferguson has said that he considered committing suicide on Christmas Day 1991, but when offered a glass of sherry by a friend, he was distracted from jumping off Tower Bridge in London as he had planned. In 2007, he was lauded for his promised to refrain from mocking  Britney Spears out of respect and in light of his own personal issues.

Like all of us, he's vigilant every day.

“Alcohol ruined me financially and morally, broke my heart and the hearts of too many others," he wrote in "American on Purpose." "Even though it did this to me and it almost killed me and I haven't touched a drop of it in seventeen years, sometimes I wonder if I could get away with drinking now. I totally subscribe to the notion that alcoholism is a mental illness because thinking like that is clearly insane.”

I loved his show from the first time I watched it; when I realized he's "one of us," it made total sense why I related to his twisted sense of humor!
