Take Action to Save Addiction Treatment
Faces & Voices of Recovery issues appeal to save coverage of substance abuse treatment
Submitted by Faces & Voices of Recovery
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has set a date of Tuesday, Jan. 31, for accepting comments on their plan to allow states to individually determine the list of services that will make up the Essential Health Benefits Package under the Affordable Care Act. These will be used to determine insurance coverage in future state insurance plans.
Faces & Voices of Recovery belongs to the Coalition for Whole Health, a broad-based coalition of local, state and national organizations in the addiction and mental health prevention, treatment and recovery communities. Faces & Voices will be submitting detailed comments as part of the Coalition. You can read those comments
here.
The addiction recovery community is trying to inform federal officials of the importance of coverage for people still struggling with addiction. HHS will be keeping track of the number of comments received. Help us demonstrate that addiction recovery is part of our nation’s mainstream health system.
